Drought Management 2003

Last modified: September 23, 2009 - 7:17 PM

Bourke Shire is experiencing one of the worst droughts on record.

Whilst the whole of NSW is currently in Drought, Bourke Shire is experiencing the worst drought in recorded history. To secure a supply of water for the town of Bourke and Villages, Bourke Shire Council developed a Drought Management Plan detailing the way in which we need to manage our water throughout the drought. For the Township of Bourke, this involved the development of a detailed model which guaranteed a Water Supply to the town for a 12 month period from the date that water stopped flowing over the weir. Further information on the Drought can be obtained by contacting Council's Department of Engineering Services.
